AI Automation Engineer
Job description
-
Salary: €65,000 – €90,000
-
Industry: Health-Tech / AI
-
Location: Remote-First Spain or the UK / Hub in Barcelona
-
Stack: Python, REST/Webhook APIs, MCP, Claude Skills, Workflow Orchestration, Core AI Platform Integrations
The Company
You will be joining a high-growth Health-Technology venture based in Barcelona that has just hit a major inflection point. They are the innovators behind a cutting-edge AI assistant that acts as a digital partner for clinical teams, recently going live with major health systems across Europe.
They are scaling rapidly to meet significant healthcare contracts, moving from MVP to large-scale production. This is an international team of clinical experts and elite engineers who believe AI should solve mission-critical medical problems in real-time. If you want to build the technical foundation of a future leader in healthcare AI, this is your moment.
The Role
While building advanced clinical assistants externally, internally this company is pioneering an entirely autonomous operational backbone.
As an AI Automation Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of the internal agentic workflows that handle repetitive business processes. This is a high-autonomy role for an engineer native to Claude Skills, workflows, and MCP architectures who knows how to build production-grade, self-sustaining internal tools.
Key Responsibilities
-
Map Processes: Audit internal workflows across GTM, Sales, HR, and Operations to identify and rank high-leverage automation opportunities.
-
Build Infrastructure: Write clean Python, deploy MCP servers/clients, and leverage Claude Skills to orchestrate stable, automated flows.
-
Production Monitoring: Instrument everything you ship with robust logs and alerts so internal automations never break or rot silently.
-
Drive Adoption: Partner closely with non-technical teams to pull workflows out of their heads, train them, and ensure high adoption.
-
Graduate to Core Platform: Recognize when an internal script has outgrown its initial scope and seamlessly transition it to the core backend platform.
What You Need
Minimum Qualifications
-
Proven Track Record: Experience building, shipping, and maintaining end-to-end business automations that real internal users rely on daily.
-
Technical Stack: Strong Python skills, API/webhook scripting, and fluency with the modern agentic toolchain (MCP, Claude Cowork, orchestration tools).
-
Consultative Mindset: Comfort communicating with non-technical stakeholders to extract operational workflows and push back on bad priorities.
-
Observability First: A strong engineering baseline centered on production readiness, logging, and continuous performance maintenance.
Nice to Have
-
Background as a Solutions Engineer, Technical PM, or Ops Engineer.
-
Startup DNA and comfort wearing multiple hats.
-
Exposure to classic RPA tools (e.g., UiPath) for legacy system/EHR integration.
-
Spanish language skills to easily embed with local business teams.
What Success Looks Like
-
Measurable hours given back to the company by eliminating the manual processes teams dread.
-
Internal teams reach for automation by default because your systems keep working reliably.
-
The organization runs significantly leaner and faster than its actual headcount suggests.
